Enemies of my Enemies

9 drawings, ink on paper
OCAD University, Toronto, 2011

Part of an exhibition curated by Julian Higuerey Nunez, the works were selected as part of a group show of emerging Venezuelan artists.

The drawings were made with office pens on pages from a vintage bookkeeping journal, and depicted nude female bodies drawn from online pornografic videos. Originally intended as exercises in human anatomy, the substitution of the nude model (an expensive resource often relegated to the halls of academic fine arts training) was substituted for the infinitely available and yet highly stigmatized internet resource. Focusing on anatomic correctness and the abstraction of poses, the works examined the relationship between high and low brow, access and resourcefulness.
